Announcement of ING Bank N.V., pobočka zahraničnej banky
From the day of entry of the Slovak Republic into the European Union 1st May 2004, ING Bank N.V., pobočka zahraničnej banky Bratislava as a branch of the Dutch bank ING Bank N.V., Amsterdam became a branch in a member state of the European Union.
In connection with this, the participation of ING Bank N.V., pobočka zahraničnej banky in the Slovak deposit and investment protection system was terminated as of 30th April 2004 and starting 1st May 2004 ING Bank N.V., pobočka zahraničnej banky became a partaker of the Dutch deposit and investment protection system.
Clients’ deposits and investments are protected to the extent of and under the conditions defined in the Dutch deposit and investment protection system - Deposit Guarantee Scheme and Investor Compensation Scheme (hereinafter referred to as “Deposit and Investor Protection Scheme”). However, the compensation for inaccessible deposits or client’s possessions provided through the Deposit and Investor Protection Scheme cannot exceed the repayment pursuant to the Slovak deposit and investment protection system.

Since 7 october 2008 the Minister of Finance has decided to increase the guarantee under the deposit guarantee scheme for a period of one year to € 100.000,- per person per bank. For this period, the deposit guarantee scheme guarantees an amount not exceeding EUR 100,000 per person per institution (regardless of the number of accounts). New! On March 10th 2009 this arrangement was extended until the end of the year 2010.
Where two people have a joint account, either accountholder can claim payment under the deposit guarantee scheme. The maximum joint deposit covered is therefore EUR 200,000.
